Communion
By Jack Caldwell
Some people got this idea in their head
That communion is just partaking in juice and bread
That it’s that time of the month that we come and kneel
And if they’re lucky they’ll get a big piece and have a pre lunch meal.
I am sadden by this, that communion has been reduced
To just a monthly tradition of bread and some juice
Communion is so much more than just a religious tradition
It’s a reminder that God looked down and saw our condition
These people His most beloved creation
Back in the garden took a snake’s invitation
And thus put a barrier between God and man
But in spite of our sin God still had a plan
His love was too great to simply let us go
He would send his son to earth, His love He would show
But you see this plan wasn’t simple or nice
The only thing that could bridge the gap of God and man would be giving up his son as a sacrifice
An on earth production of God’s love for us
His creation cheered boastfully as they crucified Jesus
But the story didn’t end with the tomb where Jesus was laid
3 days later He rose from the dead, the debt had been paid.
So the next time when you hear “the body that was broken and the blood that was shed”
Think of your salvation, Gods gift, that came through a cross stained red
And are you living a life worthy of the cost
Living boldly for Christ or do you look like the lost
So the next time you’re participating don’t be mislead
This is why communion is so much more than juice and bread

Getting Started

First of all, this is my first blog so if your following me there are some things you need to know.  1. I am awful when it comes to grammar and spelling (even with spell check).  2. I am not a good writer. 3. I will most likely be very random.  Other than that this should be fun!
